ERC renews power deals with Therma Marine, Mindanao coops

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has announced approval of extended power supply deals to AboitizPower subsidiary Therma Marine, Inc. (TMI) and four Mindanao electric cooperatives (ECs).

In separate approvals, the ERC  cleared TMI’s energy supply agreements (ESAs) with  Zamboanga del Sur I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Zamsureco I), Zamboanga del Sur II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Zamsureco II),Misamis Occidental I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Moelci I), and South Cotabato I Electric Cooperative, Inc.(Socoteco I).

The ECs are now allowed to extend their power supply deals with TMI for an additional three years.

 

ERC approved five megawatts (MW) of supply to Zamsureco I starting  January 6, 2015, four megawatts (MW) of supply to Zamsureco II from March 8, 2015, two MW to Moelci I from May 5, 2015 and four MW to Socoteco I from Feb. 11, 2015

The extended power requirements will come from Therma Marine’s two power barges in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte and Maco, Compostela Valley, which together provide 200 MW of  peaking power to the Mindanao grid.

Zamsureco I provides electricity to Pagadian City, 22 municipalities of Zamboanga del Sur and the municipality of Don Victoriano in Misamis Occidental.

Zamsureco II distributes electricity to the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, three municipalities in Zamboanga del Norte and the Vitali district in Zamboanga City.

Moelci I serves portions of the power needs of the first district of Misamis Occidental and Oroquieta City.

Socoteco I franchise area includes Koronadal City, 8 municipalities of South Cotabato and the municipality of Lutayan in Sultan Kudarat.
