Spectacular light and sound show at the unveiling of the Peugeot 308 Hatchback and Station Wagon at the Cagayan de Oro Showroom
Launched last 25 November at the Peugeot Cagayan de Oro Showroom, Eurobrands Distributor Inc., the exclusive importer of Peugeot vehicles in the Philippines, unveiled the all-new 308 hatchback and station wagon with a spectacular light and sound show that perfectly set off the new models.
“Peugeot is known for vehicles that are stylish, comfortable and have the latest in engine technology. We have created products that are the best in class in fuel efficiency, and in car nomination ratings. And Peugeot 308 is a prime example of that,” said Karen S. Carvajal, EDI Marketing Director in the sidelines of the launch.
“We’re targeting young individuals who have achieved a certain level of success in their lives, and are looking for an upgrade in their next vehicle. They want to have a European car. They’re stylish, they’re dynamic and they also want to be different. They want to stand out from the crowd. Some of them are car geeks, some of them European brand fanatics, who are looking for a vehicle that fit their active and energetic lifestyle.”
In her introduction of the new models, Ms. Carvajal presented the 308 as the embodiment of the 3 things that sets Peugeot as a brand: a long and colorful heritage running over 200 years; its French origins which exudes style and design; and Peugeot’s dual expertise: no other brand can lay claim to the fact that they’re both designers and engineers at the same time.
And history and heritage the 308 has in spades, with its long line of successful models in the 300 series line-up covering several decades; and style and design with its very stylish front the front fascia with LED headlights all the way to the LED Claw Tail Lamps; and the interiors minimalist design with the patented “i-Cockpit”.
“The multi-awarded Peugeot 308 Hatchback and Station Wagon are best-selling products globally. For their sleek design, superb driving and innovative technologies,” she stressed. “Our diesel engine featured in the station wagons and the top end GT Line models are the first Euro 6 compliant to be introduced in the Philippines.”
Besides up and coming families looking to upgrade to a European car, parents and empowered women would also find the 308 a joy to drive with its crisp handling and minimalist console which enables them to pay better attention to the road and what’s going on the back with the kids.
“We’re also tapping into families and empowered women. So those who look for a vehicle that accommodates space they need for their growing families. But they also look for value and they value quality and brand reputation. So they want a European car,” Ms. Carvajal added.
Driving is an ethereal experience with audio and cruise controls right on the leather wrapped steering wheel, automatic dimming rear view mirror and electronic parking brake. The 308 interior boasts of a standard 9.7 inch touch screen monitor that doubles as its infotainment system, air conditioning and other controls, with a minimum of buttons in the center console. The i-cockpit system puts instruments in the driver’s line of sight to minimize eye movement off the road as an added safety measure.
As added insurance, both hatchback and station wagon comes with standard six airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist and anti-lock braking system (ABS).
The 308 HDi holds the Guinness world record for the most fuel-efficient mainstream car currently in production, having averaged 3.13 liters per 100 kilometers (90 mpg-imp; 75 mpg-US) over a distance of 14,580 km (9,060 mi).
In 2014 the Peugeot 308 was awarded Car of the year in Europe beating the BMW i3 and Tesla Model S. The Peugeot 308 was also voted Car of the year Auto Europa in Italy by the Italian automotive journalists association, Car of the year in Switzerland by Schweizer Illustrierte and four other magazines.
The first generation 308 was awarded the Goldene Lenkrad (Golden Steering Wheel) in Germany in 2007 by a panel of automotive professionals chose the 308 as the best compact family car after it finished first in nine of the 15 criteria.
The 308 comes in two 2 variants for each model: 1.6L diesel Station Wagon and a 1.6L diesel Hatchback (GT Line) and 1.6L diesel Station Wagon and a 1.6L Gas Hatchback (Allure)
