The ongoing repair of the 650mm diameter pipeline of COWD’s bulk supplier has rendered many parts of the west service area of the water district waterless for about 2 weeks now.

These areas are Lumbia, Canitoan, Pagatpat, Upper Carmen, Patag, Bulua, Iponan and Opol. Some had very little to no pressure while some had to solely rely on water delivery for their daily needs.

Aside from COWD’s two tankers, Rio Verde also provided one while the Bureau of Fire Protection – CDO and Opol allocated fire trucks for this purpose.
WATER DELIVERY
CEPALCO, LIMKETKAI and even the members of the Volunteer Fire Brigade unselfishly provided the much needed support to COWD in one of its most challenging times after Tropical Storm Sendong hit the city and damaged the water district’s major facilities and service connections.
Lumbia residents draw water from Cepalco fire truck
It was learned that COWD provided the water, fuel for the tankers and snacks for the fire fighters participating in the civic volunteerism event.

Although water from COWD is safe for drinking, it has nevertheless advised its customers to boil water to ensure water safety since contamination may occur during transport, handling and storage.
According to Engr. Hapitan of RVWCI, the repair is expected to be completed on October 15while restoration of normal water supply to the affected areas is expected a day after.
