To enhance the city’s disaster and emergency response capabilities, the administration of City Mayor Oscar Moreno acquired two brand new ambulance units for use of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
The ambulance units are equipped with basic life support equipment and facilities, similar to those found at the emergency rooms in the hospitals.
According to Mr. John Michael Pagcaliwagan, the EMS team leader, these equipment include bag valve mask usually used for patients whose heart stop beating due to accidents or emergencies; suction machine; built-in and portable oxygen and other life-saving devices.
Pagcaliwagan added that the said ambulances also have an OB kit bag and manned by trained nurses who are capable of assisting pregnant patients while on mobile going to the hospital or health center.
Mr. Allan Porcadilla, the administrator officer of CDRRMO, said funds for the ambulance acquisition came from the 5% CDRRM Fund, which was approved in 2011. (Honeylyn Encabo, Lourdes College Interns/CIO)
