The region’s biggest food festival kicks off today the Activity Center of the Ayala Centrio Mall in Cagyaan de Oro City.

Dubbed “Big Bite Northern Mindanao Food Festival”, the 3-day event will kick off today with Misamis Oriental’s Kuyamis Festival, but would also feature the food products and dishes of the Region X’s other provinces: Green Bukidnon, Food Basket of Mindanao on Saturday, 10 January featuring the province’s vegetables, pineapple, beef and coffee; and The Bounty of the Sea on Sunday, 11 January highlighting the foods and dishes of Camiguin, Iligan and Misamis Occidental.

Events will be held at the Centrio Mall Activity Center while the exhibitors will be located al fresco at the Centrio Gardens.

Big Bite Northern Mindanao follows the successful staging of Big Bite Northern Luzon held over the past two years in October at the Marquee Mall in Angeles City, Pampanga. It is supported by the participating LGUs of Northern Mindanao’s four provinces, the Dept. of Tourism X and Dept. of Trade and Industry X, FOPANORMIN, and the OTOP of each municipality.
Day 1 on Friday, 09 January 2015 will focus on “The Bounty of Misamis Oriental”, specifically its Kuyamis Festival highlighting its Coconut & Ostrich dishes. Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano will open the festival at the Centrio Activity Center with Centrio and Ayala officials, and tourism and trade officials led by DOT-X Reg. Dir. Butch Chan, DTI-X Acting Reg. Dir. Linda Boniao and DTI Misamis Oriental Provincial Dir. Eliza Pabillore.

The launching will be followed by various activities including Filipino-themed Kakanin cocktails focusing on Misamis Oriental’s coconut products, culinary competitions, panel discussions, a pencil sketch challenge featuring six select artists, and interactive interviews.
While all this is going on, Centrio marketing officers will be busy choosing some 80 shoppers at random who bought items from the mall and the Big Bite Festival exhibitors which will qualify them to join the Big Buffet later in the afternoon at the Centrio Gardens following the awarding of the culinary and pencil sketch competition winners and a cultural dance show. The day’s festivities will conclude on a high note with games and entertainment at the Centrio Gardens.
Ayala Malls is bringing in guest celebrity chefs Marvin Agustin on January 10 and Boy Logro and Jeric Gonzales on January 11.

Centrio shoppers are invited to join the festivities and get a chance to win a golden raffle to the Big Buffet to be held every evening from January 9-11 at the Centrio Gardens. Only 80 shoppers a day will be randomly chosen so come early or come late but make sure you are visible! Look out for the Centrio Marketing officers to get your golden raffle!
