The Cagayan de Oro City Tourism Council honored its partners and supporters for the council’s top events in the past year and recognized achievers who brought honor and prestige to the city.

The Pasalamat Thanksgiving and Tribute to Partners was hosted by Dr. Rafaelita P. Pelaez, Chair of the Arts & Culture Committee of the City Tourism Council
Dubbed “Pasalamat” the “Thanksgiving and Tribute to Partners” was hosted by Dr. Rafaelita P. Pelaez, chair of the CTC Arts and Culture Committee at Liceo de Cagayan de Oro’s Rodelsa Hall. Dr. Pelaez also hosted cocktails for the honorees and guests prior to the event.
Ms. Dorothy Jean B. Pabayo, CTC Chair, said the long-delayed event honored sponsors and supporters for the Higala-ay Kagay-an Festival and the first Pasko de Oro CTC signature event which brought together the city’s Christmas season events under one umbrella.
Besides the festival sponsors and supporters, Pasalamat also honored the Cagayan de Oro Design Team headed by Dr. Dionel Albina of MUST which won the grand prize in the City Government/Evacuation Center category in the 1st Liveable Cities Design Challenge held last October, 2014 at the PICC in Manila.
Mayor Oscar S. Moreno thanked the council and its supporters for putting Cagayan de Oro on the map. He also briefed those present with the city administration’s accomplishments in the past year among which were bring ranked #2 (second only to Makati) as the Philippines’ Most Competitive City and outstanding in e-Governance.
Ms. Eileen E. San Juan, chairperson of the CTC Events Committee, presented a preview of the 2015 City Events highlighted by the Higalaay Kagay-an Festival in August honoring the city’s patron saint, Saint Augustine.
As a climax to the evening’s presentations, the Next Moves Modern Dance Company of the Liceo de Cagayan University headed by Choreographer Roger E. Odron presented a ‘Pasalamat Dance Concert’ a mélange of ten modern dances set to modern music, (as Dr. Pelaez aptly described it) as a treat to the honorees.

Receiving the most applause were “Anak” set to the 2nd Metro Manila Music Grand Prize Winning song of the same title by Freddie Aguilar but with a new interpretation, and the nationalistic “Mi Ultimo Adios”, both choreographed by Roger. E. Odron. The other equally well applauded numbers were choreographed by Mark Paul Sabando, Kin Escrin, Mark Anthony Agcopra, and Arnie Jumao-as. (all photos by Mike Baños, NPN).
