The Department of Trade and Industry- Lanao del Norte Provincial Office received a Certificate of Appreciation for joining the “Ïligan City Light Up A Tree Project” for Paskuhan sa Iligan in December 2014. The awarding was done during the 65th Araw ng Iligan on June 16, 2015 at Rizal Park.
This is the first time Iligan City is implementing this type of project. LGUs and NGAs are enjoined to participate and they were requested to choose a tree at the Iligan City Rizal Park and use it as the main attraction. The aim of this project is to showcase the participants’ ingenuity and resourcefulness and the use of recycled objects and other indigenous materials.
DTI’s tree stood tall at the side of the main stage on a picture-perfect location. It was lighted up using recycled plastic soft drink bottles, Abaca materials – scrunch and sinamay with different colors and twine or “kinawit” used to bind the abaca scrunch to the plastic bottles. A monogram identified DTI’s tree and it displayed Iligan City’s OTOP, Abaca.
