A family-owned social enterprise which started with a chili paste was red-hot over the weekend at a regional organic trade fair, true to the guaranteed blaze of its flagship product.
Shiga won 1st Place for Best Booth at the Department of Agriculture’s Regional Organic Trade Fair held November 18-20, 2016 at SM City, being judged Best in Presentation, Best in Customer Engagement, and Best in Sales.
Run by the mother-daughter tandem of Trel Borja and Andrea Hoffman, its Facebook page says “each bottle of Shiga® packs the fire of hundreds of hand-picked organic chilies grown by Higaonon farmers in the mountain forests of Bukidnon.”
“We support the farmers by giving a better price for their produce. Most of our ingredients are organic and locally sourced. We only use pure olive oil in our products, and only sea salt and wild honey as natural preservatives.”
